NIGHT WALKER ENTERPRISES, INC. EMERGENCY CALL FOR
HELP FOR THE WAKPALA INDIAN SCHOOL |
Ft. Collins, Colorado - Night Walker Enterprises, Inc. of Ft. Collins, Colorado, a non-profit organization raising funds to assist impoverished Native American Indian Reservations, has issued an emergency plea for aid to assist the Wakpala School, a school that Night Walker has supported for years. Located on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, the Wakpala School serves one of the poorest Reservation communities in the Nation. It is a part of the Snee School District near Mobridge, South Dakota.
Two weeks ago, the Wakpala School was devastated by flood waters that resulted from the spring melting of the severe winter snows of this year. These snows left young grade school age children walking through twenty foot tall snow drifts to reach their school building, and ten foot tall tunnels through which to walk to reach the front door. With the early spring thawing, the building has now been totally flooded, leaving the entire interior of the structure in shambles.
The furnace has been destroyed, leaving no heat for the children. School desks have been flooded and are no longer usable. Food freezers used to store lunch and food supplies for the school have been destroyed, as have all of the existing kitchen utensils needed to prepare warm food for the children. More importantly, all of the text books and school supplies (audio/visual equipment, pencils, paper, art supplies, etc.) have been lost, and no money exists to replace them.
Night Walker Enterprises is appealing to the people of Colorado to join with them in providing support and assistance to this impoverished Reservation school by immediately providing donated canned and non-perishable food supplies, chest freezers (new or used), assistance in repairing or replacing the furnace in the school and art supplies.
Donations can be arranged by contacting Night Walker Enterprises, Inc. at (970)482-7797 in Ft. Collins or in Denver area by contacting a Night Walker volunteer, Mr. William Phillips, at (303)914-3994 or (303)838-5912 (evenings).
